Cannabis Basics: What you need to know to get started!

I'm here to clear up misconceptions about cannabis!

A lot of what we perceive is myth or old information.  We now know more than ever about this powerful plant! 


The basics:


CBD-  non psychoactive but same benefits.  Known to suppress appetite. Variations you might see: CBN, CBG


THC - includes the psychoactive component.  Known to reduce pain and inflammation, assist sleep and reduce anxiety.  May cause feelings of euphoria!


Strains for both, in nutshell:


Indica - what I call "sleepy time" - also known as “In-da-couch” because it tends to promote deep relaxation. 


Sativa - what I call "daytime" -more likely to provide clarity, focus and energy. 


The gist:  Always know what you’re getting.  Talk to an expert or your local bud tender, and be wary of buying things off the internet as they may be full of fillers.

My Routine with CBD

There was a time when I used to wake up at the last possible minute, slam an energy drink and rush out the door to work.  Every morning started like this and every day I felt anxious, exhausted and was reaching for unhealthy food to cope. 


I feel fortunate to now have a routine I love: I prioritize 5 things every morning for a happy and healthy day: setting an alarm, drinking water and caffeine, taking CBD, and moving my body with a workout or walk. 


What's your morning routine? Do you rush out the door, feel anxious and exhausted all day and crave unhealthy food to cope?


The one thing that might sound different (or surprising) is the CBD, which I use to manage anxiety, enhance mood, and make sure I’m not reaching for food when I’m not actually hungry (it kills cravings).
